A sweet Riddle

Life is short, you meet many people!
Some are good, Some are bad!
Some are pretty, Some are ugly!
Some stays for short, Some stays long!
Some give you moments which you carry on!
Some are special each to their own!
Some just whine to carry on!
Don’t know why I wrote these lines,
Which neither has meaning nor rhyme!

Who is slower Scanner or Computer

Today I tried in vain for 45 minutes to make my manager understand that its not the new scanner which is taking 15 minutes to scan a page but the old computer! he would continue to argue that scanner speed is not related to PC and hence a scan should be completed in 5 minutes flat! after 45 minutes of intense discussion i had to resign and say "sir if you try a 100 cc bike to go uphill...can it go as fast as it would do on a plain road" after puzzling for about 20 seconds his answer was No.
I said "Exactly" and came out of his room!

Entangled Hairs

Usually when I write something, I first write the content and then give it a title. may be that’s because all the stuff which I have put on my blog, is a result of my direct personal experiences, however this time its other way around. so this Story "Entangled Hair" comes from a very different perspective, it’s based on conversations I m am having with this so damn confused, reticent yet unsubmissive and awesome girl. But before I start the story of "Entangled Hairs" let me give you folks a little background.

Ever since I broke up (read "got dumped", ha that is so in your face statement) with my ex girlfriend, I have been slipping in and out of depression till very recently. All the stuff happening around me was happening so fast that I literally was at center of all the mayhem. I didn’t changed a single bit, and yet suddenly all my health wealth and friends are gone, my lifestyle changes, my reaction to world becomes so damn confused that I just couldn’t take it anymore. I didn’t even had the time to sit down and think about how fast things were changing around me. whenever I was in depression (which happened several times), I didn’t met many people, locked myself into a shell, and closed my eyes so as to avoid any outer world connection, and whenever I came out of depression (which incidentally also happened exactly the same number of time as did my getting into depression), I would go out and celebrate as if life would always be that exciting. However that lost connection was nowhere to be found. I met many girls in between, from different backgrounds and strata of society, which resulted in nothing but increased number of friends and scraps on Facebook & orkut.

And then out of nowhere I met with this oh "so damn confused, reticent yet un-submissive and awesome girl."
well, now for the rest of this story let me call this girl "Reverence"

Reverence too like me has been at center of change in her life very recently and she was at so venerable stage when we two got introduced through a common friend. Let’s call him Need. Need introduced Reverence to me, and we exchanged numbers and boy did we talked. Somehow things felt really lighter in our lives (though I have to confirm this part with Reverence, but for now let’s assume Things indeed were lighter). I realized that I found my lost connection in few initial conversations, and then I asked her out for what would later turn out to be an "entangling Date"

I picked her from a certain place, and till that moment haven’t decided where exactly I am going to take her. I decided let the road guide us, and I kept on taking random turns wherever traffic was jammed. so for an hour or so, she is having this ride of her life, and then we realized that we haven’t really gone anywhere, all those random turns took us to nowhere but to a point which was like a stone’s distance from our rendezvous point. But at-least we had finally found a place where we could sit and have a nice little conversation. However best part is neither the ride nor the conversation, best part is what happened in next day conversation.....

Here is how it went!
"Hey Reverence"

"hey yogesh, wats up"

"Nothing much, just had dinner, walking in a park, whats up with u"

"Well nothing exciting really, have been sleeping for like whole day, aur batao"

"Kuch khas nahin yar, jst thinking of our first date. I really enjoyed yesterday, and would like to take you out again"

"hmmmm"

"Hey BTW did u enjoyed my company"

"Well, ya I did, but my hairs certainly didn’t"

"he he he, whoa!!!!!!!!! aisa to kuch nahin kiya maine ki your hair got entangled"

"maar kahoge tum, bhool gaye, ek ghante tuk jo bike ghumate rahe they!, Yogesh you have no idea, how difficult a bike ride could be for a girl with loose hair"

"Really, hey plz tell me nah wat happened exactly!"

"hmmmm arey yar, when yu dropped me home, I was too tired. so I decided that I wont brush my hair now, bt do it first thing in morning. so today mrng when I woke up, I realised that I do not have shampoo bt only the conditioner. without shampoo conditioner is a total waste, and evening I was too lazy to go down the aprtment and get a shampoo, so I didn’t brushed my hair again, and when I finally combed my hair, I lost so many of dem, that one more ride, and I might become a lookalike of BALD Britney Spears, apart frm that Yday was jst fine, and you r a nice guy Yogesh"

And then this little entangled talk went on and finally ended.

Probably this is not one of my best posts, but I cherish this one because I wrote this for Reverence only. I had promised her, that I would take this story to my blog and I did and yes, how can I forget Moral of the story.

"Never take a girl for a bike ride, with her hair let loose, risk it if you are as awesome as Me!!!!!!!!!!!!"

P.S. Entangled hair can be a real ice breaker; Reverence and I are still doing fine!

P.P.S You know it’s time to hit gym, when even using a pen for writing give you a pain in Arm and wrist!

Mayawati as PM

I was wondering if that happens, then all debates in parliament will be answered in a single line. Issues like
• Oil Above $120 per barrel.
• Inflation @ 13%.
• Unemployment at unprecedented level
• Sensex Going south
Will also be taken care of in a single statement,

“Ye manuwadiyon ki Kartoot hai”

Forget him, for he has forgotten you!

Forget his name,Forget his face
Forget his kiss and his warm embrace
Forget his love that once was true
Remember now there's someone new...

Forget that you memorized his walk
Forget the way he used to talk
Forget the times he was mad
Remember now he is happy, not sad...

Forget the love that once you shared
Forget the face that once you cared
Forget the times that you went together
Remember now he's gone forever...

Forget the thrill when he passed by
Forget the time he made you cry
Forget the way he spoke your name
Remember how things now are not the same...

Forget you cried the whole night long
Forget the moment when he played your song
Forget how close you were once with him...
Remember now you had deserted him......

Remember the time that went too fast
Forget him, he is part of the past
Forget the dreams that can't come true
Forget him girl, for he has forgotten you...

P.S. Not my Creation....but nevertheless so true for me!

Dont know who is the owner of the poem...but kudos to you buddy...this is so true

2009:On a Sad Note

It’s been quite a while,
You haven’t returned & I never really tried.
How did it happened and happened why,
Was that my fate or your desire?

On that Dawn, Did our bodies met, or was that our Soul’s in unison?
I thought our relationship was bright & crimson, But I never realized it was like a dying fire.

You thought that it would never work,
Though Situation was Crystal clear from Day one,
You refused to take heed, and were ready to burn.
Though it’s you who took the jump but it is me who is getting the burns.
The moment of truth came a tad too late,
But impact is like a Tsunami wave.

Come on Yaar, shed your Ego,
There is nothing wrong in making things fall in place!
Just show me that tiny light,
I will make sure that our lives become bright.

It is very hard to imagine life without you.
You ought to have a reason, and valid too!
Otherwise, Connection will remain in place,
Burning me down in an enlightening way!

The Jamun tree

Yesterday it rained heavily. A Jamun tree in secretariat lawn was uprooted. Next morning, Gardner saw it and found a man trapped under it.
Gardner went to peon; peon ran to clerk, clerk ran to superintendent & superintendent rushed to lawn outside. Within minutes, there were scores of people gathered around the man trapped under the Jamun tree.

“Poor tree, it was very old” said one clerk.

“It’s jamuns were very juicy” said another

“Yes, next summer there wont be any more jamun for my children”, said third one, almost crying.

“But this man?” Gardner pointed toward man trapped under the tree.

“Oh yes, what we should do of him” Asked superintendent

“Is he alive?” someone asked from the crowd.

“Not a chance, Tree is old and heavy, I bet you for a cup of tea, this man died within minutes of this tree falling on him” Replied someone from the crowd

“I am alive” said the man trapped under the tree, his voice barely audible.

“Ha ha, you owe me a cup of tea” Bet was settled now.

Gardner was an impatient man. He again asked superintendent. “What about this man”

Superintendent was worried, He was after-all made superintendent because he was minister’s Driver’s Son.

“This is a high profile case, it has never happened before. As per departmental rules, I am not authorized to take action on this matter. In fact this is a secretary-level decision. Prepare a report, and submit it to me before lunch” He ordered two clerks.

Both clerks tried their level best to prepare the preliminary report before lunch, but Tea and Bidis were in short supply. However, report was prepared by the end of day and duly submitted to Superintendent Sahib.

Since it was urgent matter, report was faxed to Assistant Secretary’s office on third floor. Reply was awaited, and thus passed a day.

Gardner was a foolish man; he offered water to the man trapped under tree. Greedy man took the offer surreptitiously.

Next day, Assistant Secretary’s office replied.
It read,
“Fax is not a recognized medium of departmental communication. All superintendents are hereby directed to prohibit use of facsimile communication. The report submitted by Superintendent in this case is Null and void. He is required to submit his report through proper channel only.”

A copy was duly marked to Joint Secretary for disciplinary action against the Superintendent.

Superintendent was dejected. He barged in on the man trapped under tree and asked,

“Why did you choose this tree and not any other tree freely available in city? Can’t you see, this is a government land, and only authorized persons are entitled to use trees implanted on this land. A high level Committee has been formed, and if it founds you guilty of trespassing, then you are a dead man”

“I am already dying, please help me” Man trapped under tree, spoke for the second time.

Superintendent was really pissed off, he was a busy man already, and this additional report required much of his time. But he had no other option, so he rushed to Joint Secretary’s office on fourth floor.

“Oh ho, Superintendent Sahib, Please come, please come and have a seat.” Said Joint Secretary who was a jovial man.

“Sirjee, I am in a very bad situation, a man is trapped under a jamun tree in Secretariat lawn. Neither he is dying, nor admitting trespassing charges leveled against him. I duly prepared a preliminary report, and as matter was urgent I faxed the report to Assistant Secretary for necessary action” blurted superintendent in one breath.

“Oh, I see. Don’t worry; I will quash the disciplinary enquiry against you. Submit the report to Assistant Secretary for further action.” Joint Secretary was famous for his ability to take quick decisions.

Lift was not working again, so superintendent has to take stairs to run down to Assistant Secretary on third floor.

AS was not in office, as matter in hand was urgent, superintendent submitted his report to PA of AS.

PA was a deft man. He immediately informed AS who was out shopping with his wife.
AS directed the PA to hand over the report to Additional Secretary to take further action.

Additional secretary was also a very busy man, but as the matter was very urgent he convened a meeting of all under-secretaries to discuss the problem. A hurried decision was taken and it was decided in the meeting that Tree should be cut in two parts.
A copy of decision was marked to Municipality chief engineer who was to arrange for woodcutter.

It was already past 4 PM, when Municipality Chief-engineer received the decision taken by under Secretaries meeting under the chairmanship of Additional Secretary. Chief-engineer immediately sent two Junior-engineers to visit the site, and report following day.

Both Junior-Engineers were passed out from a recognized UGC and AICTE approved Private College. They both were admitted in management quota, and hence paid an exorbitant amount. Both were very learned man, as they have been taught by the best available faculty ready to work on Princely sum of Rs. 18000 PM.

JE’s visited the site and took measurements of tree and man trapped under tree. Man was lying face down, and tree was placed on his spine. Superintendent kids were playing seesaw on the tree. They prepared their report and submitted the same next morning to Chief Engineer.

Report recommended that area be secured and woodcutter be provided with safety helmet and necessary equipments. However decision taken by under-secretary meeting was silent on one important point. It didn’t mentioned the exact ratio in which tree was to be cut. Hence JE’s report was forwarded to Additional Secretary with a remark seeking clarification on this important point.

Additional Secretary was impressed with JE’s report. He banked upon the expertise of Junior Engineers and replied
“You may use your own expertise in regard to this matter, Secretariat has no objection in this regard, and A NOC is being issued to concerned office”

On third day, since it rained heavily, Municipality Woodcutter arrived on the scene. It was earlier decided to float tenders for the post of Woodcutter for this specific job, however keeping in view the urgency of mater, it was finally decided that municipality can use it’s in-house woodcutter for the task.

Woodcutter realized that it is no mean task. Jamun tree is full of fruits and heavy on one side. Kids were also fuming because they were not allowed anymore to play seesaw.

Woodcutter started pruning jamuns and within an hour he had collected 4 Kg of Jamuns.
Tree was now in perfect alignment, and woodcutter readied his saw and no sooner than he had made first cut, 5 officials from Forest department arrived.

Forest officer demanded to know on whose authority this tree was being cut to pieces.

He was shown the report of superintendent, Additional Secretary decision, and reports of JE.
Forest officer was no nonsense man. He immediately consulted Forest rules 1996(As Amended 2004) and said ”As per rule 21A sub-rule VI, Explanation 2, Any person who desires to cut a tree has to inform Forest office 3 days in advance and take permission in writing.”
“Since, no one bothered to inform Forest officials about the matter, we cannot allow cutting of this tree”

Gardner was a shrewd man; he asked “but what would happen of this man”

Forest officer again consulted Forest rules 1996(As Amended 2004) and replied “As per rule 23E sub-rule II, Explanation 3,
“Everything attached to tree in natural circumstances including fruits flowers and related items, are property of Forest Department. However Forest department has no claim whatsoever on Private property attached with trees arising out of unforeseen circumstances”

“Therefore Man trapped under the tree does not come under jurisdiction of forest department, he is further directed to de-attach himself from the tree, failing which Penal Action will be taken against him” said Forest Officer , impressing everyone with his knowledge of Forest rules 1996(As Amended 2004).

The man trapped under tree raised his head and asked Forest officer for his help.

Forest Officer was a kind man, he asked his fellow officers for suggestions.
“We cannot cut the tree” blurted one official
“I suppose there is no restriction on cutting of man” asked another
“Yes, that’s correct, recently in Gujarat riots, many men were cut and chopped to pieces” said another official.

Forest officer than suggested the same to Superintendent, who consulted Assistant Secretary, who consulted Joint Secretary, who gave his nod to proceed.

Woodcutter sharpened his saw and axe. Someone from the crowd suggested that man trapped under the tree be asked for his last wish.

Superintendent approached man trapped under the tree and told him in a diligent manner,

“It has been decided that to rescue this tree, you would be cut into halves. Doctors are 50% positive that they can operate you and you would see light of another day, but as it may happen that you may not survive, and hence if you do have one last wish you can ask for it now”

The man Trapped under the tree was very happy to learn that finally Problem is being solved. He was thankful to everyone from Superintendent to JS and from Municipality officers to Forest officials. He however had one last wish, which he decided to ask from Superintendent who was a very kind man.

“Superintendent Sahib, I am a poet. The night it rained heavily, I was sitting under this tree, and I was composing a poem. I would like to recite the same to you”

“Oh, so you are a poet, very good very good. I will be glad to hear your last masterpiece.” superintendent was really happy to know that man trapped under tree is an artist.

Man was no ordinary poet too, He had been composing Poems from last 5 years, but there wasn’t a single person to whom he could sing those poems. Finally when he got the much awaited chance, he recited back to back full length feature poems of one hour duration.

The whole environment became melodious; in the meantime, someone alerted the Cultural Affairs and Broadcasting ministry about the poet trapped under the tree, who would be cut into pieces to rescue a jamun tree.

Soon Cultural Affairs Secretary visited the place and ordered an enquiry into the matter. Prima facie Poet was charged with breach of rules of broadcasting an entertainment program, without seeking permission from Cultural affairs Department. At the same time Cultural affairs department rejected summarily the idea of cutting the poet trapped under the tree, considering it loss of national culture.

4th day had passed; Gardener was offering food to Poet trapped under the tree, which the poet gladly accepted, but he was very tired and week.

Next morning Officials from Secretariat, Municipality, Forest department and Cultural affairs arrived on the spot, to discuss problem in hand.
Gardner was a foolish man; he abrupted the discussion and pointed towards the man

He was dead

Think a While

It’s been some time, Since you called it quit,
3 months to be precise, Seems like a long stint.

We met, in unusual circumstances, You kept relationship alive,
It wasn’t easy for you, that now I really realize.
I was an idiot, who took you for granted,
Shouldn’t have done that, I was so cold-hearted
Doesn’t mean that I didn’t loved you, though its true that I failed to respect you.
Remember that Rhyme, which I wrote for you, remember those times which I shared with you.

I know You are really pissed off, especially after I visited you,
But I want to say, “PLEASE DON’T TREAT ME LIKE A CLOWN”
As far as I have understood you in past Two years, I know it won’t be easy to bring you back.
But one thing I also know about myself that I will always keep coming back.

May be to you, “I AM NOW A LOSER”.
But I m trying to get my life on track.
May be I never told you all this before,
However that doesn’t change the FACTS.

It’s not mushy mush feelings that I want to generate,
But consider the Kodak moments which we had!!!!
Holding your hand, having lunches, that auto-rides, the Funny moments
Touching your lips that afternoon at Brahma Sarovar,
That second Date at Saffron Hotel.

Rememeber First kiss, remember your delhi Trip,
Rememebr That chill in your spine, remember that Tongue Act of mine.
Remember that Tikka-Shikka with Gaurav & Monika,
Remember those late night calls, Remember that you CRIED!

Now try to compare these with any bad moments you had,
Try to figure out what didn’t went Fine.
I tried to protect you, from my other side.
It’s Fate which now don’t want you to be mine.

Even though task seems next to impossible at this time, But Believe me Dear, All can still be just fine!
Give some time, and give some thought, it’s a humble request from your friend this side.
Every relationship has ups and downs. Some problems can be sorted out; some are better left to time.

Deflation:A Blessing in Disguise

Put your hands into your pockets & tell me honestly, had prices n market really gone down & by how much percentage your household expenses have came down & how much you are saving?

I am dead sure, you will be saying who dare say that prices are coming down

This is the same question, I am going to ask to those who belive & make us belive that Inflation is long gone; Deflation is about to set in.

Will somebody tell me, how this is possible that economy is growing @ 6.5% & demand is at near-zero level. How is it possible that there is deflation in economy & yet interest rates are still in double digit figures?

Someone out there is causing rumors of deflation, because even government is finding it hard to believe, but before starting an argument lets understand what is Deflation?

Deflation is exact opposite of inflation.

In inflation, prices increase, i.e. supply is less and demand is more, on the other hand in Deflation, growth rate in prices goes down and becomes negative, because of lesser demand and more supply in market.

On the basis of this definition a complex and confusing picture emerges, but alas (pun intended) these statistics cannot make ground realties change.

Now lets us look at that figure which caused all this hoopla. Whole Sale Price Index Base Inflation Rate, recently went down to 0.44% (latest figure being 0.26%) which is lowest in last 14 years. On this basis, technically Deflation is about to set in, but as I said earlier, ground relaties are different and this would not happen.

Tere are so many good reasons behind this. Infact indexed deflation and economic deflation are two separate concepts. WPI based inflation rate last year was around 8%( remember when was hovering around 100 $ per barrel mark), thus making this fall in inflation rate normal. Ground realties tell us a different story altogether, which is that economy is not in deflation mode at all.

Very first point could be that deflation is not based upon few weeks or months rate fall. Ideally, to measure deflation, one year time period is desirable.

Second point is real deflation comes in that condition in which growth rate of economy becomes negative, all manufacturing activities comes to a halt, markets are without any supply of money and demand for goods is zero. One interesting fact is that 60% of Indian GDP is based on domestic demand. Economy is growing @ 6% rate. Deflation terrified people, breath easy, because you are using an index which has no relation with reality

Latest figure revelas that consumer market price index based inflation rate is still hovering around 8% mark and trhis in turn is the reason for banks not aceepting deflation scenario, otherwise all banks would have lowered interest rates. Market and economy do not accept deflation at least at this point of time.

Prime lending rate of banks is still at around 10-12%, deposit rates are also on a higher side. If real prices go down, credit becomes cheaper and aggregate demand should increase. To increase demand, it is more important to reduce prices than increasing supply of money. So it might be a blessing in disguise, that prices are heading southward, even if it is in form of so called deflation, because only fall in real prices alone will bring an increase in aggregate demand, nothing else will do.

Is it really That Hard

This poem is for Someone Close to my heart!

Sitting alone in my room,
I asked myself one thing,
Is it that hard?
To show up your emotions, to open up your heart.

To tell your girl that you care,
To tell her that you would protect her,
& to tell her that you love her and always will.

Sitting alone in my room being aghast!
Is it really that hard?

I remember when we met first time,
I was scared & totally unprepared,
You were embarrassed and blushing like a newly wed,
But we hit it off like long lost friends.

Sitting alone in my room pondering over past,
Asking myself is it really that hard?

I am wondering how quickly time has passed,
& we have come very far on the Love path.
You have always stood with me on my side,
& have given me, everything I could have possibly asked.

Sitting alone in my room & embarrassed,
Asking myself is it really really that hard?

I know I haven't pampered you at all
I know I haven't embraced you in my arms,
I know I haven't given you anything so far,
I know I have sometimes even treated you below par,

Sitting alone in my room & sulking now,
Asking myself is it that hard?

I might have forgotten some important dates,
I might have forgotten you birthday cake,
I might have forgotten that you care,
But I haven't forgotten any of those wonderful moments we shared.

So remember one thing and now sit tight,
I might never attempt to sweep you off your feet,
And I might never promise to give you everything you need,
But today I promise rather declare,
That I love you from my heart's deepest layer,
I had been in relationships in the past,
But none was as beautiful and true,

Sitting alone in my room and wondering now,
It wasn't really that hard!

Those were the best days of my life

As time goes by, I wonder why?

I grew up how to become like thy!

Year 2005, month of November,

I took CAT, and I guess I blundered,

I had my chances, I blew them all,

With this background, I stepped into NITK Examination Hall.

Test was easy, that’s for sure,

Because without attempting 6 questions I was still among first four!

I never enjoyed the place or the campus.

Surely I wonder now, how it happened.

As time goes by, I wonder why?

I grew up how to become like thy!

First Seminar, Bhaskar Bagchi was the Speaker

I didn’t understand what shit he was talking,

So I fucked him there and I fucked him Brutal.

Little did I knew, that it would create an image

& how that image will shape my future?

As time goes by, I wonder why?

I grew up how to become like thy!

First three days & I knew this place is shit,

So I decided to give it a complete miss.

With that decided, I ventured into CAT again,

Realizing later that FATE always prevails.

Five months gone & nowhere else to go,

I knew that this is where I supposedly belong.

As time goes by, I wonder why?

I grew up how to become like thy!

In Department, I rarely showed up my face,

Because Hostel was the place, where I found my solace,

Laptop was my girlfriend in the campus,

& I dated her in the CCN labs for rest of semesters.

Nobody in the hostel was ever denied her company.

In my absence she was treated like a public property.

As time goes by, I wonder why?

I grew up how to become like thy!

Campus was small, and the crowd Sophisticated,

B.Tech acted, as if MBA was NITK’s unwanted child.

Department was new and so were the benches.

Our Picassos used them for some fabulous paintings.

I remember the day when Lahkara asked for a camera phone,

For reasons better remain unknown.

I had such reasons to attend class;

I also loved Sapna, and her voice.

I played some games & I claimed some Fame.

I went out and carved a name.

As time goes by, I wonder why?

I grew up how to become like thy!

I remember this place where I was my natural being,

I remember the world of which I was the king.

I remember those years when I inhibited no fear,

I lived as if End was nowhere near.

But two years passed, so thick and rear.

As time goes by, I wonder why?

I grew up how to become like thy!

Last day evening, we bid adieu

I woke up next day and it was time to leave,

But I wanted to play that last game of sweep.

It was gloomy, but one thing I knew, that I have some friends,

Who surely would not let my world come to an early end?

As time goes by, I wonder why?

I grew up how to become like thy!

After going through this long piece of uncreative writing, I think you have guessed it right.

I cherish these moments, and I hold them Tight.

NITK made men out of boys,

To set them loose in this cruel space.

Some might lose, some will surely gain.

But let’s make sure, that there is no further pain

And with this last line, I will take my place,

Thank you all for providing me this moment of fame.

Love you guys, love you NIT.

Hospital

Nobody likes visiting hospitals and I am no exception either. Touchwood I had enjoyed a good health in my life and which means I didn’t visited hospitals many times, but past month I have been placing many a visits to hospitals courtesy, my ailing super aged grandmother.

All her medical test reports confirms that she is absolutely fine for her age & yet she has been acting like she is about to die any second. Now since I had absolutely nothing to do while being in hospital, I inquisitively started noticing people (read patients)

Situation was particularly grim in AIIMS new emergency ward. It occurred to me that in a 40 bed cabin styled ward, more than 200 patients were being look after. More than 90% of them were battling for their respective lives, but what baffled me greatly was 10% of remaining so called casualty patients (read viral fever) & some police case in which policemen instead of going through routing OPD landed up straight in Emergency ward, so as to get the process done within a few hours. What’s more ironical was a message board which read “in case a bed is not available in emergency ward, the patient will not be admitted ad after initial treatment would be referred to another hospital.

Meanwhile we shifted grandma, from AIIMS to a private hospital in vicinity of our Gurgaon home. Money can really change the equations; however sitting in a hospital alongside a patient can be really depressing. How about a law which would put a tax on number of accompanying person a patient can have. Surely it would help in decongestion of our hospitals. We can also put a Cap limit on the number of times a person can be admitted in hospital in a year. Any takers?????????????

Celebrate the Non-Existing Freedom

It’s Independence Day, 15th august, a day frozen in our history, history of contemporary India; 61 years of Independence preceded by more than 150 years of struggle, struggle to live freely, to express freely and to pursue happiness, to pursue Freedom. Our independence was a dream, A dream shared by 40 Crore people, and we are now the flag bearer of this dream & shame be served upon us, for we have failed to even realize what was the dream all about, let alone of fulfilling it.

It’s true that every nation has to struggle before it reaches a threshold, or a platform which would help it to take a giant leap. However efforts must be put into building a solid platform, but here in India we are accustomed to knee-jerk reactions. A simple word “provocative” do not figure in dictionary of our erstwhile acclaimed politicians, bureaucrats, and administrators responsible and accountable for certain duties conferred on them and I do not want to cite even a single example in support of this contention, for the list would run so long that it would be daunting.

How do you respond if your own prime minister tells you that the land which has been taken by China is useless because it is uninhabited and fails to grow a single strand of grass?

This is what our then honorable Prime Minister Pt. JawaharLal Nehru told the entire nation in response to China occupying a large piece of Indian Territory after 1961 war.

How do you respond to increasing failure of our information and intelligent agencies failing to check terrorist groups operating in our country?

How do you respond to failure of agencies responsible to prevent the Godhra and other communal riots in parts of Gujarat?

Do these problems sound too big for a common man?

Leave all these international and national problems, why do we fail to ask questions, even when we suffer year after year, in monsoons, trying to make way through waterlogged non existent roads.

Isn’t it our right to ask all those responsible for such a mess, to provide genuine solutions? Aren’t we tired of fake promises elections after elections? Why do we keep paying taxes to provide funds for hefty paychecks of these non-functioning politicians & administrators?

I fail to see any point in implementing recommendations of sixth pay commission, in fact I fail to see any point whatsoever as to why even such a commission was set up, which doles out pay hikes without fixing any accountability. Ask these babus to work for a single day in a private company. Just a single day would be enough to knock these non performers to dirt.

Well for me Independence Day means, a day to relax, for it is a guaranteed holiday. I do not wish to repair this system, because you cannot overhaul a system which has its vital parts missing.

I am all open for a new system. Please give me an autocratic ruler with a vision to take India forward, an autocrat who has it in him to shoot at sight a corrupt officer. Even if such step requires me to surrender my 2 cents worth of freedom, I am all open for it.

For god’s sake rise, rise you dead sleeping Indian, or you will always be celebrating a non existing freedom, and so called Independence Day.

2 Years:Made a Man Out Of a Boy

Circa, July 2006; a boy with shattered dreams, enters the premises of NIT Kurukshetra. He has fought & fought awkwardly yet brilliantly. He gave his best for cat 2005, but it was not to be. He has it in him to crack into an elite MBA institute, but as I said, it was not to be. So with nervousness, he sets afoot into the “Oh So Dead” NIT campus. He has been admitted into the first ever MBA batch of NITK. A batch of 60 students, 60 so called non-NITians, we liked to call ourselves MBIans. Some of them had brilliant academic records and yet they were here in “oh so DEAD” college, and he had an average pathetic, academic record & he too was here.

But it wasn’t too bad for him!!!!!!!!

His name was Yogesh & he is a different person now, altogether a different person, A Boy Transformed into a Man.

It was a real experience to stay in hostel. I learned much more there than I did in classroom. I am having this itchy feeling to narrate major incidents which transformed me.

Mass Bunk that was never there: It was a mass bunk that didn’t materialized. Nobody liked to attend after lunch classes. One day there was a buzz that there would be a planned organized mass bunk of Neenu Madam after lunch class, our first (&last) planned mass bunk. I took the initiative, informed girls through Nidhi, not to attend the class, told hosteliers in mess not to go for class, and informed day-scholars through punit. Punit was however agitated that how can we hosteliers decide for the whole class without considering Dayskis. I told him, that you guys weren’t present over there. Anyway he told me straight that I would attend class & since it was necessary that none of us should be present to salvage the attendance, I knew that all plans have gone honky-donkey. I had to inform everyone that class will take place, and in response to all this I faced wrath of everyone. This event also marked the line between hosteliers and Dayskis.

Lesson learnt: Garner Support for a Cause Then Act.

First GT Party: It was a challenge, thrown open by Aarti Madam on Wednesday, in tutorial class, a challenge taken by Apeksha & achieved by Yogesh with the help of Sakshi. Day scholars (again punit) categorically refused to organize GT at such a short notice, they even refused to attend, but nevertheless they came, they danced, and danced so well.(Thanks for your support guys, GT was not meant to sideline you guys)

Lesson learnt: Try Before You Fail.

Elections: Gaurav Mukhija was elected unanimously as president of MBA society. Six committees were under him. Politics can be quite funny.

Vishal clear cut choice for literary committee, backed out. Nikhil with 2 votes get to be secretary, but he did a great job. Gagan selected unanimously for Bulls & Bears, Sorry to say this buddy, but you disappointed. Hiamnshi selected for culture activities and man has this bindaas attitude. Accolades to you girl. Richa Lal: GT secretary, well frankly speaking she won because, other candidate was Anurag, a dayski, who didn’t had a single vote from hosteliers. Nadeem was chosen for sports , and he stole the show with basketball match between MB1 and MB2 groups. Finally it’s my area, an acrimonious battle between Apeksha and me for the post of Finance secretary. I never had the support of Dayskis, and it didn’t helped that other candidate happened to be a female. Somehow I won with the margin of a single vote.

This activity provided fuel to increasing fire between hosteliers and dayskis.

Apart from this divide other battlelines were being drawn in our hostel

This was a battle between uparwale and neechewale. First evidence of it was to come through “Change of mess” all of us agreed, that our mess was indeed a in a complete state of Mess. But uparwale summarily rejected to change the mess because neechewalon ka proposal tha. But no grudges, because we too opposed them bitterly for trivial causes.

Lesson learnt: Weigh Down your opponents, before they weigh you.

Talent Hunt: It was a war between me and 3 other guys, popularly known as Trimurti. They made every effort to corner me, but I didn’t relented. However triplets managed to add to their ever increasing nuisance value, one of them went on to call the event a grand success, which according to my core group was a farce.

Lessons learnt: don’t recognize your failures publicly, never deny your success in public.

1st Common Room meeting: Another evidence that I was really unpopular, was a common room meeting which followed within days of talent hunt show. I was the centre of mayhem, that was one of ugly faces of politics, but I had a supporter, the man, the president himself “Gaurav Mukhija” & that made me believe that truth will prevail. Rival camp then went into damage control mode & what followed was a proxy war.

In fact I was all alone till that common room meeting, but after their move backfired, I got many supporters, notably among them were Kuldeep and Depankar. After that it was a relatively cool 2nd semester, till placement committees were formed.

Placement Committee: Trimurti took the onus to do placement work, starting with summer training, nothing of concrete value came out of their efforts, but it laid a foundation stone of feeling of disgust for them. It also divided the whole class into three groups. They , Us and neutrals. (Neutrals weren’t really neutral but they were taking their time to jump into one boat or other)

Lessons learnt: Sometimes you should try not to compete, especially when you know conditions do not warrant any competition.

2nd Common room Meeting: Initial Placement committee was changed many times over, placement brochure was being designed by six members, and other six members were working on contents. This was the time when neutrals started jumping on one boat or others, dayskis came in our boat, some girls came to our side too. We lost Vishal though. That was another stupid mistake on their part to touch a lion’s den. You cannot take the credit of work which has been done by Gaurav Mukhija. They tried and failed miserably. Somehow I was pushed into Placement committee, yet the control remained with the triplets. However there wasn’t any silver lining in sight. It didn’t helped their cause that even faculty was dead against them. Attention of whole class was shifting on them, they needed a culprit to pass on to masquerading crowd, and who better culprit than their staunch critic, Yogesh. With this move, they could have eliminated me and hence the 2nd common room meeting was organized. However I had the support this time, so again it was not to be, in fact it provided us more supporters, notably among them were Jaswinder, Ashutosh and Arun. This event marked the entry of Sumit & Vishal into placement committee. It was efforts of Vishal only that we did managed to achieve a near 100% placement.

Lesson learnt: fight well even if odds are against you, because you never know who your real enemy is, and who your real friend is.

Girlfriend: In between all this frenzied activities a girl silently walked in my life, almost unnoticeably. Which helped me in losing some of my friends (in fact all of them except two) and I am still clueless for how having a girlfriend bothers some of my friends to such an extent that they decide to launch another battle.

Lesson learnt: don’t try to fulfill everybody’s expectations

Umang07, IIT Kanpur: It’s a secret well kept, we won accolades, we won media attention, we had public sentiments with us, but I failed, and I am sorry that I let 12 people down including myself

Lesson learnt: don’t promise which you cannot perform and don’t perform which you haven’t promised.

In the end it was Hari’s chicken only which helped me in staying at campus. And yes I cannot forget 3 things about NITK campus:

  • Fake attitude of so called superior engineers, you sucked guys, you really did.
  • Nights spent in CCN, downloading movies.
  • Long walks to Brahma Sarovar and Railway station.

Now I am left with some happy, and some gory memories, but nonetheless fascinating memories.

Thank you guys, thank you faculty members and thank you life for making me a part of this wonderful experience.

Amit's Poetry

Amit Is one of my frends....hu happens to be quite of poet..so it's high time that his poetry is published..dude here i m putting ur poems, an exclusive post meant for ur poetry only.....starting with

Friends
We met, we part,
On the road of life,
Where everybody gets aside,
We are together though we are miles apart.

We dream, we share,
On the shore of life,
Where usually everybody leaves,
You stayed with all your love and care.

We broke up, we made up,
On the curves of life,
Where no one bothers to hold on,
You anchored and never let me drowned.

We fought, we stopped talking,
Halfway through the life,
Where no one tries to burn up the strife,
You silently lent your shoulder and kept on walking,

We cried, we lied,
Throughout the journey of life,
From where no one comes out alive,
Our friendship survived.

We ate, we played together,
During the tough times,
Where every one looks after themselves,
You proved once again that we are FRIENDS FOREVER

Boredom
Sitting on computer,
Listening to songs,
Getting bore,
Here I compose,
A useless cum senseless,
Please forgive me for this nonsense.

Neither it has a starting,
Nor an ending,
I am out of words,
I am just like a nerd,
Thank you for giving it a read,
From boredom now I am freed

A Nation Called India, It’s Citizens Called Indians, A Feeling Called Disgust

Yet another dope test blunder by SAI. Yet another athlete denied an opportunity to compete at highest level. Chances of a medal jettisoned even before the competition begins.

So what new? It has always been like that. Media will give the case a push. It will be in the headlines, depending upon the media buoyancy provided readily for the sake of Monstrous TRP’s, and as all other headlines do, this will too, die a gradual death. Notwithstanding certain Baichung Bhutia supporting the weightlifters cause.

And we will still be hooked on to some news channel, serving a hot clandestine story which would be titled something appropriate as “kamishnar ka kutta mila”, dishing out details such as “roomy 3 dinon se lapata tha”, “Delhi police ney shahar ka chappa-chappa chana” and toped with an enticing break, which in fact is there bread and butter, and which in fact is root cause of such stories being served as “BREAKING NEWS”

WTF, SORRY GUYS GIVE ME A BREAK, NEED A GOOD DAMN BOOK

First Ever individual gold medal in Olympics:

Finally after the agonizing wait of long years, India’s moment under the Olympic sun has arrived courtesy: Abhinav Bindra, a man who performed when expectations of more than 10 billion people were weighing on him. As he shot at his target again and again, he went at a place where no other Indian has ventured, though some came tantalizingly and agonistically close. Karnam Malleshwari managed a bronze, Rajvardhan Singh Rathore brought a silver, but somehow Gold eluded ?India, a land of more than 100 Crore people, was none of them good enough to win a gold medal, but now the same question has been answered by a man called Abhinav Bindra.

As this piece of news sank in, Rewards were being announced by various state governments and institutions at a frenetic pace.

Rs. 1 Crore by Punjab Government, Rs. 25 lakhs by Haryana Government, Another @5 lakhs by BCCI, Rs. 10 lakhs by Mahrashtra Government, and still counting.

First the bright part; that winning a medal in Olympics is no mean achievement, considering it’s a gold is like icing on cake and this has been achieved in an individual event is like having your cake an eating it too.

Perhaps Abhinav should be rewarded for his glorious efforts, but every bright sky has a darker side which is often neglected, though the truth is that darkness in itself makes sure that brightness is brighter.

Am I like walking the walk, or talking the talk?

No, I have a point; compare this achievement to SAI’s blunder. Perhaps consider the scenario in which Abhinav is treated Positive for a dope test, instead of weightlifter, .

Had that happened, then probably India would still be looking at a distant moment under Olympics sun. The achievement of Abhinav becomes even bigger considering the kind of sports institutions (like SAI), which are responsible for management of sports in the country & treatment sportsmen receives in this shoddy Country.

And now the darker side, which ironically adds more stature to Abhinav’s Gold medal (Notice the word used Abhinav’s, and not India’s, to me at least, it belongs to Abhinav only). Why celebrate the success when in fact you haven’t created an iota of chance for it to happen.

Ask all these institutions, agencies and states, who are all lining up to celebrate Abhinav’s success, by doling out bundles of cash to Mr. Abhinav Bindra, were they “Sleeping Dead”, when he or for the matter of fact any other sportsmen was aiming training, practicing and striving for that coveted piece of metal. Wasn’t it the duty of these governments & institutions to promote other sports in this cricket frenzied nation. I have nothing against cricket, for it is also a beautiful game, and I have played cricket all through my life. But what were these institutions doing prior to this amazing act of an ace shooter. Fuck them for me it’s like remembering a dead man (read sports) whom you have killed in front of this very public, not very few days ago and glorifying his death by bringing his dead body out of closet, and setting it up for public display. Public which was remorsefully shocked few days back will now be cheerfully happy?

It’s not first time, and it is certainly not the last time either. For me sports have died many times, and will continue dying till institutions like SAI continue to look after the sports in this country.

Abhinav I congratulate you for reaching where no other Indian has ever ventured & your name is now immortal. May you inspire numerous athletes who can claim their stakes as being world’s best despite having once insurmountable roadblocks, which of course can be overcome as you have shown.

For now I can proudly say, in MORE THAN 100 CRORE INDIANS, EK TO MARD KA BACHHA NIKLA.

And for the rest of fellow Indians, you have found another demigod.

Glorifying the death of sports continues

Countdown Begins

Checked NTPC’s Website. Results will be declared in third week of August. Ever since I have read this line, tranquility has given way to anxiety. Earlier it was a feeling of “Been there done that”, now makes me dizzy. A sense of euphemism has surrounded me. The mental bouts of “What If” have begun.

“Mata Rani Kripa Karein”

Chetan Bhagat’s Misadventure into writing

So got my hands on much talked about “3 mistakes of my life” well I don’t wanted to create a special post exclusively for Mr. Chetan Bhagat as it would have added to his nuisance value anyway, but I ended up creating a new pos , just because of sheer volume of its content.
Now moving back to the 3 mistakes, after reading ¾ book, I cannot understand why it has created a buzz, in literary circles. Its not that I m venting out against Chetan. For instance I liked his first attempt titled “Five Point Someone”. As it provided a much needed fresh air, with its buzzing campus language. Incidents narrated were like just out of life, taken straight out from a real campus. So it connected with readers particularly the young ones who were either set to join in a campus, or were already in the campus, and also with those who cherished their campus memories. The main hero was a normal and typical Indian boy. I fear a theme stretched too far by Chetan in his other attempts.
So hari was amongst us, he was one of us, and so we connected well to him and others in Five Point Someone.
Then came the dull one night @ call centre, wow that was a serious attempt to shoo away your readers. I particularly didn’t liked his idea of a borrowed story, the setting were too imaginary, to be digested. One night @ call centre was shoddy, and below par to say in most humble manner possible. Its climax or rather anticlimax of it was horrible. I don’t understand what the idea was. Booze, sex and god altogether, in a single package. Biggest mnc’s of world will take a good look before offering such package, and you Mr. Bhagat did it in so nonchalant manner.
And then with 3 mistakes of my life, May be it was your idea to over promise and underperforms. Or even if it was vice versa, then according to me, one night @call centre has already under promised and “3 mistakes of my life” has clearly over performed

By the way I must appreciate increasing boldness of female characters.
Neha did it in her home, knowing particularly that his father will not be home n the meantime
Priyanka managed in a quails, parked in a secluded place.
Vidya had it on terrace, and considering that probability of someone coming on terrace, wasn’t as low as calculated, it was a really dare devil attempt.

I guess next time it would happen in bathroom of a swanky mall, or in elevator, or better still in Buddha Park
Any takers
